Thursday, January 17, 2019, Jazz for the woke… at Sugar House Coffee – every 1st and 3rd Thursday at 6:30pm. if you think they aren’t listening, you are wrong. After each tune, they pause their chatter and applaud. Jazz is intellectual music, it sparks thought and contact. It is a go to genre for those who can do more than two things at once. Sunday, December 23, 2018, hard to capture on film – Bar X does have a great setting of intimate lighting for downtown live jazz. Here are a few snapshots of Mark Chaney and Dan Waldis. They play every 3rd Sunday. This last Sunday, college student Ling Ritter was in the audience and sang a couple of tunes. Singing Summertime, she brought the bar to a halt to enjoy her voice.

Friday, December 7, 2018. Caffe Molise new location is outstanding. On the SW corner of 400 South and West Temple. The interior is spacious with a few levels, the décor is romantic and nostalgic and the food is delicious. On Fridays from 7pm to 9pm you can add jazz to these other great attributes.

Friday, November 30, 2018, Night one of Music in the Box concert at Rose Wagner Performance Center (downtown SLC) with Dan Waldis and Friends – A Little Jazz With Your Mistletoe. Gorgeous vocals by Ling Ritter and music by Dan on piano, Mark Chaney on percussion, David Murphy on drums, Tully Cathey on guitar, Jim Stout on bass. Great music, then an intermission that includes a raffle for several prizes and then the Santa portion of the evening (which I will post next, separately). We all look forward to the way Dan and friends initiate the holiday season with their jazz.
